The Oscill8 Collective was founded in 2017, and is a registed non-profit society listed as the Oscill8 Electronic Performing Arts Society.  It is comprised of mainly Alberta-based live electronic musicians and visual artists to promote and encourage the live electronic music and visual arts community. We aim to support, encourage, and inspire new artists, create and participate in tutorials and educational workshops, and enable live music events for local and touring live performing artists.

We believe that creation, education, and participation among Alberta-based artists is important to connect our community, showcase emerging artists, create a positive and welcoming environment that will cultivate new approaches to creative performance.

Leif Olson

I am leif olson aka lokey that strange bass layer. I've been creating and performing improvised, glitchy bass music, lush downtempo soundscapes, and odd techno explorations for over a decade, using an ever-evolving custom-crafted ableton performance rig to conjure new and original music from the world around me. Based out of calgary, I love nothing more than to encourage the creation and performance of local live music. I perform and celebrate live improvised music at every opportunity.

He is a multi-genre artist, having produced synthpop, IDM, breakcore, techno, synthwave, and future funk. Mat is a strong proponent and cultivator of live hardware performance, forging an intimacy with the music based in the direct physical connection between the emergent perception of sound within his consciousness and biorhythmic instincts. Michael Weicker

I have been creating live electronic music since 1982 when I formed my own solo act entitled Weep, O' Mine Eyes. In 2004, I formed Electronic Music Calgary which has helped foster live electronic music through our Facebook group as well as hosting live events at the National Music Centre and other venues. I have really enjoyed watching live electronic music grow in this city and province and look forward to working with the talented people at Oscill8 to help promote electronic music both locally and elsewhere. about?
